About SmartWatchesForKids
Real parents testing real watches so you can make the right choice for your family.
Who We Are
SmartWatchesForKids.com was started by Dave, a dad of three who spent way too many hours researching GPS watches after his oldest started walking to school alone. After buying, returning, and testing more watches than any reasonable person should, he realized other parents were stuck in the same research hole — sifting through paid ads and vague Amazon reviews with no clear answers.
So he started writing the reviews he wished existed: honest, specific, based on actual weeks of testing on actual kids. No PR samples. No sponsorships. Every watch reviewed on this site was purchased with our own money.
How We Test
Every watch we review goes through a minimum 4-week testing period on a real kid's wrist. We do not rely on spec sheets or manufacturer claims. Here is what our testing process actually looks like:
- 1.GPS accuracy testing — We walk predetermined routes and compare the watch's reported location against a reference GPS device. We test outdoors, in neighborhoods, and indoors.
- 2.Battery life measurement — We track real-world battery drain across light, typical, and heavy use days over multiple weeks. No manufacturer-quoted numbers — just what we actually measured.
- 3.Durability stress testing — Our kid testers wear watches through playground sessions, sports practices, rain, and the occasional drop on concrete. We report what survived and what did not.
- 4.Parent app evaluation — We set up geofences, test alert speeds, try every parental control, and measure how long SOS alerts take to arrive.
- 5.Cost analysis — We calculate true total cost of ownership including watch price, activation fees, monthly plans, and required subscriptions over 1 and 2 years.

- ✓No manufacturer has editorial input or review approval
- ✓Affiliate links never influence our ratings or recommendations
- ✓If a product has problems, we say so — even if it hurts affiliate revenue
- ✓Reviews are updated when products change or new information emerges
How We Make Money
This site is funded through affiliate commissions. When you click a product link and make a purchase on Amazon or another retailer, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is the only way we make money — no display ads, no sponsored content, no paid placements. For full details, see our affiliate disclosure.
